A young man appeared at the local police station for his interview as a recruit for the police department.  He was excited and so was his wife who waited at home to hear news of the interview results.

The Police Chief invited the potential recruit to come into his office to begin.  He first stated he wanted to start with a few simple questions to determine the recruit's knowledge level.

He first asked, "What is one and one?" expecting to get the addition answer of two.

The recruit thought heavily and a smile came on his face when he proclaimed, "1 and 1, that's easy, the answer is 11!"

The Chief, expecting 2, smiled and said, "That's creative, but it's not what I was expecting.   Let's try another question."

"What two days of the week start with the letter T?" asked the Chief.

The recruit seemed to think hard and soon began to smile deliberately when he announced "that's easy, today and tomorrow!"

The chief, expecting Tuesday and Thursday, again smiled and said, "That's creative, let's try one more math question."

"There are 60 seconds in a minute, 60 minutes in an hour, 24 hours in a day and 365 days in a year.   So how many seconds are there in a year?"

The recruit thought for a few moments and began to smile broadly.   "12 seconds in a year!" he remarked.  "There's January 2nd, February 2nd, March 2nd and a 2nd in each of the 12 months, so the total is 12!"

The Chief began to think, 'I've got to get out of this interview.'

"Let's move on from the math questions.  Who killed JFK, President Kennedy?"

The recruit thought hard for several minutes and eventually said, "I don't know."

The Police Chief replied, "OK, think about it over the weekend and let's talk again sometime next week."

They said goodbye and the recruit left.

Later, when he got home, the recruit's wife was anxiously awaiting his return and asked, "Well, did the interview go well?"

"Oh yes" the recruit said proudly, "They done'n already assigned me to a murder case!"
