​ Jackson, a dog, had a pet bird who was feeling poorly one day, so he decided to take him to the vet to be checked. 

They arrived at the Vet's office and entered to meet the scheduled appointment time.

The Vet invited them to come back to an exam room.  He said "this won't take long" and walked out of the room just as a cat was walking in.

The cat sniffed the bird thoroughly from the top of his head to the tip end of his tail. 

Then the cat walked out of the room just as a large labrador retriever was walking in.

The labrador retriever then thoroughly sniffed the bird from head to tail.  

The labrador retriever then walked out and the Vet walked back in.  The Vet said "OK, we're finished, you can go to the front desk and pay.  That will be $1,005."

"What",  proclaimed Jackson, "Just for this short visit !!?"

The Vet remarked "relax, it's only $5 for my service."  "But I had to charge $500 each for the cat scan and the lab work." ​
